Lovebirds originate from Africa and Madagascar.  They are children from grassy prairies, savannah, and bush country.

There are 9 species:  masked, fischer's, peach-faced, Nyasa, Black-cheek, Red faced, Abyssinian, Black collared, Madagascar.

The very first observers of lovebirds in the wild noticed they live in pairs all their lives and none will stray beyond calling distance of its mate.  Is this were "lovebird" originated?  ...  Agapornis comes from the Greek: agapein, to love and ornis, bird.

Lovebirds are very vocal and active birds. The awake as dawn breaks, then take a drink of water and immediately start chattering + chirping away. They take a rest at noon and somewhat go back to their lively state in the evening. They also need 10 hours of sleep each night. They do need a tad of light at night to be able to drink and eat.

With loving  care & proper management, lovebirds in captivity can live from 10 - 15 years.
