Welcome to the American Hanoverian Society!


What is the AHS?

The American Hanoverian Society, Inc. (AHS) was incorporated in 1978 to establish, maintain and operate a non-profit association of breeders, owners and friends for the promotion and preservation of the warmblooded Hanoverian horse on the North American continent; to maintain a public registry of Hanoverian horses; to mark or brand approved stallions, mares and foals with the Society’s registered brand; to disseminate information to breeders, owners and friends pertaining to the breeding and raising of Hanoverian horses; to promote the performance of the Hanoverian horse in dressage, combined training, hunting, jumping and driving; and generally to do all things appropriate to encourage a public understanding of the Hanoverian horse, its breeding and performance. Following last fall's AHS membership referendum, the society no longer requires that frozen semen sellers and distributors submit Reports of Mares Bred or issue Stallion Certificates of Service for mares inseminated by this method. Instead, beginning in 2008, it is now the responsibility of the mare owner to submit a properly completed, signed and dated Frozen Semen Insemination form for each mare bred using frozen semen.  Read More
Following last fall's referendum, the American Hanoverian Society (AHS) membership, by a two-thirds margin, voted to retire the H-US brand that had been used since 1993 to mark the foals of Studbook and Main Studbook mares. The membership voted to introduce the H brand effective with the foal crop of 2008.  Read More
