You have received great advice here. We had similar issues with our first Ridgeback due to our inexperience. NILIF and returning to obedience classes for 2 years turned our situation around. Our next two have been wonderful because of the following factors:
#Good breeders - temperament is inherited.
#Lots and lots of exercise - puppies get in trouble when they are bored and have pent up energy.
#Consistent obedience training for at least 2 years, even if simply repeating basic obedience.
#Confident and calm leadership from you. This takes time to learn and exude.
#Educate yourself on the breed by reading and participating in forums such as this.
Good luck!! If a well behaved and well adjusted Ridgeback is what you want, the first 2 years take much work, but is so worth it for the remainder of their lives.
