It's hard to not compare birds, but really. You get a special one and then some that aren't as tame, and it's hard not to compare. That's where you have to retrain yourself. By not trained do you mean not finger tame? Now is Star a budgie? My budgies aren't finger tame really. Only two of them are. However it's more like I'm trained to be their perch if they want one, but they don't come if I call and they dont' do tricks.
The important things are spending time with Star. and any birs you have. Spend timewith them. You can be just hanging out and being close to them, talking to them whatever. The more you do that the more you can bond with them.
Yes life sometimes gets in the way. Try to think of your bird(s) as a refuge from the drama, the problems, and as a source of joy.
You will have to probably start over if you are training them in a specific way. It's all about earning their trust, and being consistent. They are big on routine. If you stop spending time with them, they do revert to an untame state. WHen you start spending timewith them again, they may regain that training they lost, or you might just have to start from scratch.
With my budgies, and a few of the tiels, I decided it wa s more important to keep them sheltered, loved, fed, and I stopped trying to train them, and just decide to love them however they wanted to be.... I found, that with someo f them? Tat was the point at which they decided to be more tame. RElax, and just BE with them, take it slow, and don't expect much. Be happy with them as they are, and dont' give up, and you might be pleasantly surprised!
