months? Gabriel (BIG gray shorthair) is the boss of the yard and he wasn't concerned with her appearing. He will not tolerate anyone in HIS yard unless he knows and approves of them.

She also could have been coming around after dark, since there is always dry food available. We haven't seen her for about 6-8 months, that's why we thought something had happened to her. Even though there are a lot of black shorthaires in this neighborhood, she has a very dsitinctive walk and when we come outside she scurries away, but not too far and stops and watches us. She also has a tipped ear from when we got her spayed. The most definite thing was that Gabriel, my big gray neutered boy that guards the yard, had no problem with her being there. After all, she is probably his grandmother or great aunt!! - What a wonderful surprise! (msg)

Mamakitty obviously found another sucker, er, source of food, and has been taking an extended vacation from your colony. It's such a great feeling to know a cat is alive and well after all. I've been there and share your happiness. - I was afraid she was getting sick the last time I saw her............msg

I KNOW I couldn't get her in a trap again, it took several years to catch her the first time after she slipped out of the old Havaheart trap when the bar didn't flip over when it tripped. - This news is all the better as you thought she didn't look well. Feeding feral kitties and managing a colony is tough on the heart and soul. I've had many disappear over the years and not knowing what happened to them always weighed on my mind. There are only three options: they were ill or injured and died; they found another source of food; some good person took them in.
I've had hard, if not impossible to trap, cats and also those that keep going (and going) into a trap every time I set it.
