ive had 2 tortoises for a year now. (had them since they were 4 years old) and they have developed bumpy shells, i do not understand this, i have never given them any meat or fish, they are fed 2-3 times a day, go out regulary, get plenty of exercise, they get calcium suppliments, i feed them fresh vegetables such as spring greens, they get garden plants and weeds, which are safe to eat and they have spacious vivariums. a lot of people i know have tortoises and they have never had this problem. i now have another two tortoises and i dont want them to go the same way. all of the tortoises are assertive and happy, show no sign of ill health and are very friendly, so why are their shells bumpy? its quite noticible from a side view, the shells are still good and strong, not soft. so why is this happening? i dont want 2 have 2 take them 2 the vet one day and get a lecture on how bad a job I have done, so wots going on?
