I've had two red eared sliders for about 6 and a half years. In the past (past couple months) there have been occasions where the larger of the two (Crackers) has chomped onto the little guys (Cheese) neck and tugged and whipped his neck back and forth before letting go. Recently this has become an almost daily occurrence. NOTHING can get Crackers to let go of Cheese's neck and our attempts to separate them only makes matters worse for Cheese. The sight and sounds of it is incredibly upsetting to us...it looks painful and sounds violent. What's going on? Cheese cannot fully pull his head in because of the swollen skin and he seems an overall unhappy turtle.
