My Welcome Page

Welcome all Killifish Lovers
This is a proud Mexican Made Web Site, in both Spanish and English, devoted to the first Killifish I owned: The Beutifull Aplocheilus Lineatus, or better known in the aquarium world, as the "Golden Wonder". It is an easy fish to maintain, peacefull for its size, eats everything you feed him and as a bonus, it is Easy to Breed too !!!
The Aplocheilus Lineatus seems to have several strains, the ones I know of are: The original Stripped or Tiger as I call it, the Golden strain widely known as the Golden Wonder, the Red strain that looks like the golden but with much more red on it and 2 rare strains or locations called Ouchtery and Nellicoupam.
Of the last 2, I am still digging the net to see what I can find. I promise to keep you all posted, so stay tuned and ........Happy Killifish-Keeping.... :-)

Whats Next for this Site
This Web Site in the folowing months will have corrections (with your feedback), additions and more features like a Killie Forum, a Mailing List (sorry only Spanish, as in English, there is the Great Killie-Talk Mailing List), a Guestbook, etc.
This Site will later include all the other species of the Aplocheilus Genus and maybe in the near future some of the other Killifish Species including their Eggs for Trade.

A little something about me
My name is Everett W. Talavera Bracamontes and I live in the smoggy but beutifull Mexico City. I have kept and bred Tropical fishes since I was 16 years old untill now when I am about to recieve in december a cake with 39 candles on it. errr people say I look younger ....LOL Any how, my relation with Killies started when my father bought a book called Dr Sterba`s Aquarium Handbook. Looking at the photos, I got hipnotized by the Killies, but sadly NO dealers here in Mexico imported them, some didnt even know what we were talking about. After more than 20 years later I came across a dealer that imported some rare yellow fish that they called Golden Wonder. I asked the dealer what they were and his answer just rang my bell ....KILLIFISH. Like a robot, I bought some of them and this is where my REAL Hobby began. It has been several months now and sadly, imports of Killies is still very rare but a trip every week to many dealers and buying every Killie I came across has gaven me a grand total of 5 species of witch 2 reasently died. As incredible as it sounds, this is sadly the truth here. This is why the Egg Trade page is so important, so if you breed your Killies, please trade with us as it seems the only way we have to get more Killie species.

The Kind Killie lovers that helped me build this site
Thou none of these persons wrote a single word in this Web Page, their emails, advises, the willing to share their Killie eggs and experiance without even knowing me, gave me this vision to build this Web site and share what I have learned with all who need it. These kind people are: Peter Uhlmann, Robert Schwiegerath, George Morris, Catherine, Jon Aqui, Bobby Ellermann, Allen McNealy, Richard Cox, David Sanchez, Wright Huntley, Tyrone Genade, Barry Cooper, Bob Meyer, Shane Fisher, Nonn Panitrong, Daniel Hunsaker, Scott Davis, Tom Garofalo, Jay Moylan, Harry Specht, Deirdre Stearns, Alberto Rodriguez, Jose Ruiz and my Fish Pals from my dear Mexico, Edel Ambrosio, Carlos Pacheco and Pablo Hernandez.
To all of you, Muchas Gracias Amigos, I will always remember your help.

A Special Thanks to my Family
In this section I feel the need to thank my Family and Friends, for being the very most important people in my life and the motor that keeps me going on day by day.
To my Mother and Father. To my Brothers: Arturo, Jimmy, Mayte and Lucy. To my Friends Fabiola and Enrique. Finally, to those little gifts of life, my Children: Tavito, Ari, Wendy and Abril.
Everywhere I go, you all travel with me, in my mind and in my heart.
