If all goes according to plan, I'll be taking OzPugs offline this weekend for a major upgrade. Long story but there have been some major changes to the base software we use here such that I need to reverse back all the modifications I've made to the forum, reinstall new base software and then maybe put some other mods in - well kinda anyway Smile

It will be good in the long run because basically a lot of the modifications which had to be made everytime there was an update will now be standard in the base software. So it will make updates a lot less of a hassle.

But the new software has been like 2 years in development and is about as significant a change as upgrading from XP to Vista and many of us know what a pain in the **** that can be!

At this stage I don't know exactly how much this will change everything but hopefully nothing significant. However you just never know till you do it.

The only possible issues as far as I can tell is that it might throw some people's passwords spacko and they'll need to reset them. That shouldn't happen much - basically it appears only if you've used non-standard characters in your password like - & * etc.

Everything else should be OK (fingers crossed) but I do expect some changes to things like the way smilies are layed out and a few other smaller things. Good news though is that it should run quicker - with any luck!

The whole process may only take a few hours but I'm assuming the worst which is why I'm allowing the whole weekend just in case.

So if you try to get to ozpugs and it says we're down for maintenance - thats what its about.

hahaha .... happens every year, I walk around all day on the 4th trying to work out what is special about that day! LOL, well the penny just dropped why I thought that yesterday was "special". DUH! It was OzPugs' Birthday!
