OUR CAUSE
There are
an estimated 5,000 baboons in research at this time. In the past, as studies were completed or if funding was lost, the animals
were euthanized. Fortunately, the recent trend is towards retirement and placement in a sanctuary environment.
The
growing primate pet trade has broadened to include baboons.
A single animal may be valued between $1,000
to $3,000.
After realizing these primates do not make good
pets, owners look for a safe haven where these animals can live out their lives among their own kind.
Peaceable Primate Sanctuary will be that
place.
OUR SOLUTION
Peaceable Primate Sanctuary
will be the only sanctuary in the United States designed specifically to house baboons. Housed in large natural exhibits,
with spacious indoor quarters our animals will receive the best care possible while living in a natural, enriched setting.
Single animals from laboratory or pet environments will be introduced into an established social group reflecting wild baboon
populations. Our vision includes a naturalistic, enriching environment.
