RQHBA sale report For Aug 24th, 2008

 The 8th Annual Ranchers QH Breeders Association sale, held at the 7 Down Arenas,
saw successful buyers from TX, OK, CO, WY and SD. This year’s sale featured 80
head of broke geldings and mares, yearlings and weanlings, all ranch-raised from 13 members
and 5 guest ranches. All weanlings purchased through the sale are eligible for a
$1500 Futurity Purse to be awarded at the 2009 Central States Fair!

  The top selling gelding, a 6 yr old grey sired by PC Ikewood Oaks was consigned
by Sharon Herron and sold for $3300.

The top selling 2 yr old gelding, a palomino sired by Cee Heart Taylor was consigned
by Chad and Mindy Hubert for $2800.

Top 2 yr old mare, a blue roan sired by Sir Bea Cowboy, was consigned
by Allen and Jamie Hockenbary, sold for $1150.

Top yearling, a bay roan stallion sired by Pat Cowan, was consigned
by Shawn and Leslie Merrill for $1500.

Gary & Deb Mailloux and Glen & Janet Long had the top selling stud colts
(sired by Gotta Sweet Leo and Sir Bea Cowboy) for $800.

Hancock/Maxon had the top selling filly, a buckskin sired
by Big Honey Harlan for $800.

Top 15 colts averaged $720. 

 

All consignors would like to thank those who attended our successful sale,
and look forward to the 2009 Futurity and Sale, to be announced at a later date.


2009 Futurity

2009 Sponsors: Sally O'Malleys/ EZ Mart, Black Hills Riding Club, Rapid City QH Assoc.
$500.00 purse per division: Studs, geldings, fillies
*Futurity will be  held during Central States Fair in August of 2009.
*Futurity will be for yearlings only.(studs, geldings, fillies)
*To be eligible; the foal must have SOLD through the 2008 RQHBA Sale. Eligibility will follow the horse.
*The yearling must show to three judges.
*Winnings will be awarded to  the registered owner at time of futurity.
*Original papers are to be presented for show registration (to verify ownership)
*AQHA membership required
*Showing expenses are the owner's responsibility (entry fees, stall etc)
*Payback will be based on number of RQHBA entries and number of RQHBA horses defeated.
*RQHBA members / consignors are not eligible to compete for futurity funds.

Payback: 1-4 in the class pay : 1st 100%, 5-8 in the class pay: 1st 60% 2nd 40%,
9 or more in the class will pay three: 1- 50% 2nd 30%, 3rd 20%
