FEATURE: AAFC - CWHBA October 2008 Meeting Results

On October 24, 2008, CWHBA representatives met with senior officials from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada at British House on the grounds of Spruce Meadows, just south of Calgary in Alberta. This full day meeting was the continuation of CWHBA proceeding with bi-lateral APA discussions. A Power Point presentation that was prepared specifically for this meeting has been distributed to each chapter and will be available at your provincial AGM's coming up.

2009 Stallion Service Auction (SSA)

The online stallion directory is currently being updated by stallion owners and will return starting December 1st. Stallions nominated to the 2009 SSA will be indicated by an * after their name. Videos of nominated stallions will be hosted on two internet video hosting sites this year - YouTube and Barnmice. Barnmice is a Canadian equine social community for horse people with international scope! You are invited to join to share photos, videos and horse life with friends from every discipline and from every corner of the world. You will find a Canadian Warmblood Owners and Breeders Group as well as the SSA videos and many members who have already joined. Hope to see you there.

CWHBA going forward with bi-lateral APA discussions!
April 11, 2008: Three years after the ‘Sport Horse Canada’ concept received unanimous support, multi-lateral talks with the Federal government and breeders of sport horses have been wound up. Since the February 6th meeting in Calgary, the Canadian Sport Horse Association (CSHA), has formally withdrawn from any further amalgamation discussions.

WELCOME TO THE CWHBA!

The Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association (CWHBA) was Incorporated, under the Canadian Live Stock Pedigree Act, in 1991. The association is a corporate union of breeders for the purpose of furthering warmblood horse breeding in Canada. The purpose of the association is: to unite the breeders, owners and friends of Warmblood horses in Canada; to maintain of the Stud Book of Canadian Warmblood horses including approved stallions, mares and foals; to maintain a uniform breeding program of warmblood horses in Canada; to promote breed shows and representation in exhibitions; to provide information to breeders, owners and friends and generally encourage public understanding of the Canadian Warmblood horse. The breeding aim is to produce a well bred Warmblood horse, correct in conformation and with good performance. 2009 STALLION DIRECTORY

Stallion Verification for 2009

Stallion Owners must submit verification for updating by December 10, 2008 in order to be included in the 2009 Stallion Directory. The current online Stallion Directory is now offline to allow for Owners to make their changes. The Directory will begin being reactivated December 1, 2008.
Stallion Owners - your e-mail newsletter with instructions was sent November 19. Look for this e-mail - if you do not receive it, please contact the Office.

STALLION ADVERTISING

The next issue of the Breeder's Digest is currently in preparation. This will be the stallion issue. Please contact the Editor, or the National Office, for full colour rates. Copy needed by December 10, 2008. Contact Colleen Embree-Jay at: wispers@telus.net

Please submit her genetic markers if she has a profile already, otherwise send the Application for DNA Testing Form hair sample and the $60.84 fee to the CWHBA National Office.
