ENDURANCE RIDE

25 and 50 Mile Distances in the Withlacoochee Forest near Brooksville, Florida

Trail: This is a loop ride with all vet checks in camp. The trail is on permanently marked horse trails and forest roadways, with some sandy, hilly stretches. Water for the horses will be provided on the trail.

Awards: Completion awards, BC for 50, Top 10, Top Junior, and Best Crew for both distances.

Camp Info: Base camp (HOLDER MINE RECREATION AREA) is hard, level terrain with plenty of room. There is potable water available at base camp. There are no electrical hookups. There is plenty of shade. Leashed pets permitted. Forestry rules prohibit outside vendors, so make sure you have all of you electrolytes, tack and supplies before you arrive. Camp is very close to shopping for ice, sundries and things.

Meals: Dinner Friday night before the ride meeting will be provided. Riders eat free, additional meals for crew, etc. available for an extra charge. Free coffee and doughnuts Saturday morning.

Vets: TBA due to recent cancellation of AERC vet, have some, working on head vet. (Will have him by the time you get this but we needed to get these out!) Vet-in starts at 1:00pm on Friday, April 13^th.

Directions: >From the North: I-75, at Wildwood, exit #66. Go WEST on S.R. 44 to Inverness. Bear RIGHT at junction of Hwys. 44 & 41, they run together for about a mile. STAY ON Hwy. 44 West through town of Inverness. Go through several traffic lights, and look for an ABC Liquor Store on left. Go LEFT at that light, C.R. 581. It’s also Pleasant Grove Rd. Follow this, and go RIGHT onto Forest Road 10. Road turns to dirt, base camp on LEFT.

From the South: I-75 to Brooksville, exit #61. Go WEST on Hwys. 50/98, they run together. Go NORTH on Hwy. 41 as you come into downtown Brooksville. Go out of town 14 miles, go LEFT on Snow Memorial Hwy. (Hwy. 481). Follow this, and go LEFT onto Forest Road 10. Road turns to dirt, base camp on LEFT.

Entry Fees: 25 Miles: $55 ($35 Juniors)

50 Miles: $75 ($55 Juniors)

Non-AERC add $10

Extra Meals: $10 each

Pre-entry required. Entries must be postmarked and by April 1, 2001. Cancellations must be made by April 5^th to receive refund of entry. $25 handling fee will be charged unless cancellation is verified by veterinary certificate.

Negative Coggins required prior to unloading. Please remember about the Agriculture Stations if you are coming into Florida for the ride, you will need a health certificate to get through!
