Thus, It seems evident that the Mastín Español is one of the oldest breeds in Spain and Europe, and probably one of the oldest in the world. Its size is extraordinary. Its power is a characteristic that they only use to defend those that they love. It is a quite and loyal dog that can only be part of a family. Due to its phyisical features and historic evolution the Mastin can live outdoor even in the coldest or warmest regions. But it adapts to any situation and they can learn to live in-doors without any problem..

Pury de  Valdejera (our Female)
Pury de Valdejera: She was born in Agoncillo,   La Rioja (Spain)   on the 3rd June 2001  and travelled by plane to Belgium  three months later.
Tunante de Autocán: He was born in Cuadros,   León (Spain)  on the 12th November 2001.   This time we went from Belgium  to Spain to  pick him up and to meet his parents and breeder. We decided to call him Rumbo   that means "Way"  or "Sea Route"  in Spanish. Rumbo is growing and growing and we wonder when he will stop. In the picture he was 2 months old (more pictures)
According to various studies, the Mastin Español was already present in Spain (Europe) 4000 years ago. Most likely it was the result of breeds' mixtures between autocton dogs and breeds brought up by the Phoeniciers first, and the Romans later. Other sources claim the breed to be in straight line with the Tibetan Mastiff due to striking similarities in aspect and morphology. However, there is no relation between the breed and others of a more agressive character that the Romans introduced in Western Europe (Mastino Napolitano, Bordeaux dogue, Perro de Presa ect...) and that were used in the numerous wars and battles of the Roman Empire.
