This page is about our dog Kayla. She is a very rare breed, an Entlebucher Sennennhunde, one of the four breeds of Swiss Mountain Dog.

We had decided to add another canine member to our family and began to research different breeds of dogs. We were looking for a working breed that was active and playful without being "hyper" in the house. It was important that the breed not be aggressive. After much research we decided an Entlebucher was a good match for our family.

We got Kayla from Moratel Farms. Her registered name is Glory's Kayla of Moratel. She was born July 1998. Her sire is Faulhorn of Tucker (Elder) and her dam is Moratel Miracle of Glory (Glory).

I strongly recommend this breed to anyone that is willing to give the dog a lot of exercise. We have a fenced in yard, but Kayla and Duffy (Cairn terrier) are taken for a hike in the woods most days. On days when this is not possible we play a game of catch in the yard. It is important to note this breed is tireless.

We have also been involved with dog agility training. Kayla has been oustanding in her ability to learn the various elements and the breeds natural athletic characteristics make this activity fun.

Kayla's best quality is her sweet, loving disposition. She is very attached to every member of the family. She is very loving. She is her happiest when her entire family is home. This is not a breed to be left alone for long periods of time.

Kayla is very sensitive and requires patient, gentle dicipline. She is very smart and eager to please.

We were very excited when we saw the OFA report on Kayla's hips. Her hips were evaluated as "good". she also has had an annual CERF evaluations.

We Bred Kayla Jan 2003. Entlebucher Mountain Dog Puppies sired by Garek Arrow of Moratel are expected March 2003. Photos of Arrow are available here.
