| Albino: Lacking pigmentation, usually with pink iris and deep red pupils. |
| Abberant: Straying from the usual or natural type (usually refering to unusual patterns). |
| 1.1.1: A reference stating the sex of a snake, with the first number stating a male, the second refering to a female and the last an unsexed snake. Any numbers can be used, like 4.3.1, would mean 4 males, 3 females, and 1 unsexed snake. |
| Herpetology: A branch of zoology dealing with the study of reptiles and amphibians. |
| Colubrid: A large family of mostly non-venomous snakes.(Colubridae). |
| Pinkie: A newborn "hairless" mouse or rat. |
| Fuzzy: A more developed newborn mouse with hair, around 10-21 days old. |
| Heterozygous:(HET)-Possessing two differnt forms of a particular gene,one from each parent but not showing one.(usually an albino and non-albino). |
| Hybrid: An offspring of two animals or plants of different races, breeds, varieties, specie,or genera (usually refering to a kingsnake/cornsnake mix, or a mix between two different specie of kingsnakes). |
| Brumation: A term for hibernating a snakes. |
| Power Feeding: A term used for over feeding a snake to make it grow faster for breeding.(but doing this will usually result in a short lived snake). |
| Mites: A small parasite found on infested snakes. |
| Herpetoculture: The keeping and breeding of reptiles and amphibians. |
| Intergrades: Used to describe snakes that are the result of different species or sub-species breeding naturally in the wild. |
| Phases: Descibes certain typical patterns and morphs. |
| F/T: Frozen/thawed, refering to a frozen and thawed mouse |
| Banded: The ringed pattern of most kingsnakes,around their bodies. |
| Hypomelanistic: A reduction or lack of black pigment. |
