OLLIE'S ANGEL TREES
Santa needs your help! The birds at Ollie's Parrots Perch are hoping for some new toys, perches and treats for Christmas this year. In November and December we will be placing "Angel" trees at some of the local avian vet offices with paper ornaments on them. Each ornament will have a picture of one of our birds on the front and what they would "like" for Christmas on the back. Just purchase the item and return it to the collection box under the tree. An update with a list a locations of these trees will be sent in the middle of November.

Ollie's Parrot's Perch is a new kind of boarding facility for all kinds of birds from Finches to Macaws. We specialize in "home-away-from-home" care. Your bird will receive one-on-one attention with daily playtime, misting and exercise. Our facility also features clean cages, full spectrum lighting, filtered air, and fresh fruits and veggies in addition to their usual seed or pelleted diet.

A Place to Call Home is where unwanted parrots from the midwest area come to find loving homes. We give our birds the utmost love, care and attention while they are with us. They are veterinarian checked and given any special care, including rehabilitation and behavior modification, to assure the best quality of life possible. Great care is taken to find them a long-term, loving home with a new family. The "flock" is cared for by founder, Sandi Madsen and a host of dedicated volunteers. We are always looking for dependable volunteers to help care for the birds. (You must be at least 18 years of age or have an adult/guardian partner.) Volunteers help with cleaning and feeding of the birds, exercise and play, socialization and learn grooming techniques. There are also opportunities to help with our outreach programs and with selling our retail items at the store and at expo's that we attend.

We have purchased a building to house our rescued birds in Creston, Illinois. Our new building has a larger retail store with many accessories, organic bird diets, cages and giftware. A percentage of all profits will go to support the rescue birds. Along with a great retail store, we will also have a educational classroom where we will have classes and guest speakers who will teach you the latest on how to care for your parrot. (Some of these classes may be required for adoption of our birds.)

Volunteers Wanted!!!!!

Ollie's is looking for reliable volunteers in the Dekalb area who would like to learn about the care and training of parrots in a hands-on environment. No experience necessary, but you shouldn't be intimidated by beaks! The position is for one or two days a week, during the daytime hours. Cleaning cages, preparing and feeding the birds, giving showers, exercise and love are what's involved. Interested? Call Sandi at 815-384-3170.
