Welcome

Milo, a UKRCC success story!

Welcome to the UK Ragdoll Cat Community. Founded in 2004, we are the only UK registered charity dedicated purely to the welfare of the Ragdoll cat breed and to Ragdoll Cat rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming. The UKRCC is led by a growing group of volunteers and has an active and successful Radgoll cat rehome and welfare scheme. We are not only commited to finding secure, loving homes for needy Ragdolls and other pedigree cats, but we work to support Ragdoll owners in all aspects of Ragdoll care and to encourage responsible cat ownership. To find out more about our Ragdoll Cat rehoming work and the adoption process, please visit our Rehoming Page.

A Ragdoll is for Life, not just for Christmas

The UKRCC will not be rehoming any Ragdoll cats to new families during the period 1st December 2008 to 5th January 2009. This policy is put in place to prevent any Ragdolls being given as presents this Christmas. In addition the UKRCC strongly believes that the period running up to and including Christmas and the New Year is not the right time to introduce a Ragdoll into the family. Christmas is, by its nature, a very busy, hectic time, involving noise, decorations, visitors in most households etc. and a newly introduced Ragdoll cat can easily be stressed and frightened by all the festivities, within the home. It is important that any Ragdoll cat is introduced into the home when life is calm and quiet, so that the settling in period is as stress free as possible.
If you have a Ragdoll cat which you need to rehome, if it is at all possible please wait until the New Year before contacting us and then we shall do all we can to help you. If you need your Ragdoll cat removed from your home immediately and cannot wait until January, then please call us on 0870 766 9823.

If you wish to offer a home to an older Ragdoll cat when the festivities are over then please contact us from the 5th January 2009 by completing our online adoption application.

Do you need our help to find a new home for your Ragdoll cat?

If you have a Ragdoll cat which you can no longer keep, for any reason, please visit the following link for details on how we can help you.

I need help to find my Ragdoll Cat a new home

Please note: While the majority of cats we rehome are Ragdolls, we also work with other breeds. We are always happy to help secure a new family for any pedigree cat, so please do not hesitate to contact us, if you need our help.

Is the Ragdoll Cat the right breed for you?

Please visit here to find out what it is really like to live with a Ragdoll cat before considering taking one on.

Do you have the life long love and commitment to offer an older Ragdoll Cat?

We currently have several Ragdolls looking for suitable new families.

If you are interested in adopting an older Ragdoll cat in need please complete our online application form. For more information about the adoption process, please visit our rehoming pages. To meet some of the Ragdolls seeking new homes, please visit our adoption page.

Please note: We do not home cats on a first come first served basis, but arrange adoption to the home which can best meet the needs of the individual Ragdoll. No cat will be placed until a home assessment has been carried out. Due to the number of adoption enquiries we receive there is likely to be a wait for the right Ragdoll and we cannot guarantee that everyone contacting us will be successful in adopting a Ragdoll.

Looking to purchase a Ragdoll kitten?

If you are thinking about approaching a breeder to find a Ragdoll kitten, please take a few moments to visit our Choosing a Kitten page. It offers impartial, straight forward, advice about how to find a reputable Ragdoll cat breeder thus avoiding the heart ache and expense that purchasing a kitten from an unreputable breeder can bring.

Lost Ragdoll Cat?

As part of our commitment to Ragdoll cat welfare, the UKRCC run a Lost and Found Register. If you have lost you Ragdoll Cat, please contact us with their details, along with the date and area they went missing. We will circulate the information to all relevant bodies and publish details on our website and forum. We also have an information sheet, offering practical advice on what to do when your Ragdoll cat is lost, which can be viewed at the following link: Lost Ragdoll Cat Advice

Are you allergic to cats?

We have recently received several enquries asking if Ragdolls are 'hypoallergenic', in response to a growing number of articles on the web and most recently a feature in Observer Magazine (What would you save if your house was burning down?- 30/12/07), claiming that they are. This is a myth and these articles are misinforming people. Ragdolls are not 'hypoallergenic' and if you have an allergy to cats, you will be allergic to Ragdoll cats too.
