CBD Oil for Rottweilers – How Cannabis Hemp Tincture can Help Your Rott

Her name was Good Charlotte and she was the best good girlie in the world. Ask a Rottie owner about their dog and then sit down because the stories will be lengthy and you will laugh and cry the whole time.

Noble descendants of the Molussus, the Rottweiler was brought to Germany by way of the Romans. Big, stocky dogs, they were used to herd cattle.

You know a Rott when you see one. Glossy black. Chocolate brown. Deep brown eyes that look right into your very soul. The breed standard suggests docked tails but many people are skipping that. Tail or no tail, their big solid haunches will wag with unrestrained joy over even the littlest thing.

My Charlotte once knocked a small child completely to the ground with her enormous tail and that tail made decorating the house a challenge because nothing could be at tail height or away it would go!

They can look scary. Improperly trained or poorly socialized and they can be scary, dangerous even. But, the Rottweiler is a loyal and loving family dog in most cases and you face more danger from his back end than you do his front.

As great as they are, Rottweilers are not immune to disease. In fact, did you know that the Rottie is the dog breed most prone to cancer?

Don’t you wish you could do something to protect your friend?

In a few minutes, I am going to tell you about the best way to help your Rott no matter what the trouble might be. You might be shocked at what I suggest but trust me, it works and best of all, it is all-natural!

Rottweiler Health Issues

Rottweilers

Sturdy, muscular and big boned, the Rottweiler can quickly become obese if you don’t monitor his diet and make sure he gets plenty of exercise. He is also pretty prone to dysplasias in the hips, elbows and shoulder joints purely because of his size. But, the major risks of Rotties are cancer and another bone disease.

Cancer is the leading cause of death for Rottweilers. The breed seems to be prone to several different kinds and they are usually fast growing and fatal. In fact, many dog owners may be shocked that their dog is in the final stages of cancer before they even show symptoms. Stoic, almost to a fault, Rotts may never have a single symptom until it is too late to treat their cancer.

Osteochondritis Dessicans is another condition that Rotts are susceptible to. All of the big boned dog breeds are pretty high risk for this condition. The bones grow too fast or may grow in a weird way making them fragile and easily broken, damaging the joints or causing frequent dislocations. Usually striking around 4 months of age, it causes pain, immobility and may require amputation if the damaged limb cannot be saved.

Wow! That’s some scary stuff.

Most of us only want the very best for our dogs and we would do just about anything to keep them happy and healthy all of the days of their lives. I know I would.

Let me tell you a little more about Charlotte.

She collected fallen leaves and saved them behind the bathroom door. I never figured out why.

She ate plastic, tin cans and basketballs. In reality, she ate everything. She once ate a roll of metallic wrapping paper and the backyard was a twinkling display of gigantic, decorated dog doo.

She slept beside me, big head on top of my head for her entire life.

She was the first one to comfort me when I lost my sister to breast cancer.

She was dying of cancer and didn’t even give me a clue.

By the time I found out, it was too late for chemo or surgery or anything. Comfort measures were all I could do. And that is when I started using CBD oil. I’m going to tell you how CBD oil benefits dogs with cancer in general in just a minute but first let’s get a few things straight:

  • CBD is not just some new age hokey oil that costs the sun and moon but doesn’t do anything.
  • It won’t get your dog stoned.
  • It’s not magic and it won’t cure advanced cancer or anything else.
  • It won’t eliminate your need for veterinary care and some traditional medicine.
  • It is not dangerous
  • It is not illegal.

CBD oil helped my Charlotte for the last few months of her life. She was not in as much pain. She still had her appetite and pretty good energy. She was still a happy girlie.

CBD For Rottweilers Benefits

Numerous studies have already proven some of the things that CBD oil can accomplish including helping brain cells and improved mood but there are other benefits as well. In relation to cancer alone, CBD oil can:

  • Push the immune system to fight even harder.
  • Can help kill off cancer cells by preventing them from getting the energy they need to grow larger, multiply and branch out.
  • Slows the growth process of some tumors. Preliminary studies suggest that it may cause some tumor shrinkage as the cancer cells are starved of energy and die off.
  • Increases how well other medications such as chemotherapy work.

It can also help prevent anxiety and depression by increasing levels of serotonin in the brain. Since serotonin is needed for the body to release melatonin this increased level may also help the dog to sleep better at night as well.

Other Dogs are Barking About CBD Oil

If you’ve been paying any attention at all, you know that there is plenty of information out there about CBD oil and a ton of products. It is easy to get confused and maybe a little overwhelmed.  Don’t worry. I am going to give you some solid recommendations including my picks based on what I gave my own beloved dog. Before I get to that, let’s hear some other dog lovers and see what they have to say.

I’m Charles and this is Brutus. I have owned Rottweilers my whole life starting with Mama, the dog I grew up with. Her and I turned 13 the same year and then she passed away in her sleep. I refused to even pet another dog for 2 years but then my mom brought home a complete goof of a dog she named Herbert. Herbie broke through my grief with his silliness. I graduated, went in to the military and then on to college. My last year of school I found a guy with a box in front of him. I heard a familiar bark and there were 2 rolly-polly Rottweiler pups. I picked the fatter of the two, named him Brutus and here we are. Brutus is a great dog but he has some issues with the mailman. He is terrified of the man and no one knows why.  I started giving him CBD oil for anxiety and spent some time talking to the mailman just to see if maybe he was afraid of my dog and giving Brutus a hard time. The neighbors all mention how great this guy is with their dogs- even the guy with the mastiff that makes Brutus look like a teacup poodle. Two weeks after starting the CBD oil, Brutus stayed on the sofa when it was time for the mailman instead of hiding. Two weeks after that, ol’ Brutus was out there getting his head patted and taking treats from this guy he had been hiding from a month before.

There are 9 Rottweilers in this household. 7 girls, 2 boys and a surly cat named Jenkins. All of the dogs get a dose of CBD oil for a variety of problems from hip dysplasia to general anxiety. Everyone is super happy and healthy and the only chaos here comes from Jenkins deciding that the squeaky toys are his new bed.

Wow! 9 giant dogs. I can’t imagine the pooper scooper duties there.

Darwin is 11 years old which is pretty old for a Rottweiler. His owners, Gladys and Franklin bought him when he was 6 weeks old and they have all lived in the same yellow house for Darwin’s whole life. His favorite thing used to be digging up all of the irises in Gladys’ garden and then planting them in new places. He doesn’t move the flower garden anymore but he does like to lay on the lawn and watch traffic go buy. Darwin’s age has slowed him down some but his eye problems and sore hips are really keeping him from getting around very much. The vet gave him some pain medications but they caused liver damage and Darwin was even more miserable. Franklin bought some CBD oil and came sneaking in to the house like the biggest criminal. It made Darwin act like his old self again and Gladys was so happy she didn’t even bother telling Franklin that 1) she had bought some too and 2) it wasn’t illegal.

As you can see, CBD oil can help you take the best care of your dog, young or old, healthy or not. The benefits are great and the risks are minimal. In fact, there have been almost no adverse reactions to using CBD oil in all of the studies that have already been done. That is unheard of and hugely positive.

You know the drill. A new medicine comes on the market and everyone is so hopeful about how well it is going to work. Maybe they have some short term success stories and then suddenly the patients are all dropping dead from the same problem and while some of the big pharmaceutical companies may try to dodge responsibility eventually they have to accept it and the new medicine is removed from the shelves. Then comes the big lawsuits and the accusations. And then comes the new medicine and the carousel spins around again.

People have used cannabis for medicine for centuries. While there is some benefit of the psychoactive component called THC you won’t find any of that here. CBD oil gives you the benefits of the plant but none of the THC. Unlike other medicines you can’t overdose on the stuff. It doesn’t cause liver and other organ damage like other medicines either.

It is derived from hemp, a plant with so many benefits it would take pages to list them all.

Now, I promised you my recommendations and I am about to do that. Remember, these are the same products I used on Good Charlotte, my dying and most beloved good girl. She is deeply missed and I am glad that I gave her this bit of peace as she made her way to the Rainbow Bridge.

CBD Oil for Rottweilers Recommendations

I highly recommend King Kanine CBD oil supplements including the oil and the edibles. When she was up to it, I gave Charlotte the crunchy treats because she was always a huge fan of anything that looked like cookies. There wasn’t a flavor that she didn’t care for because anyone who would eat a basketball is not a picky eater.

Made with all organic ingredients, these are lab certified to be the highest quality.

I also recommend the King Kanine CBD oil. It comes in three different strengths. Follow the easy to read chart to decide which is best for your dog’s size or health concern. Because she was a big girl, I gave King Kalm in the 300 mg size and it worked well for her. It kept her comfortable right up to the very end and that was all that I could hope for.

It is important that you discuss your dog’s health needs with the vet before proceeding. Many vets are accepting that CBD oil works and are even prescribing it in their own practices. Holistic vets have been suggesting it for years in their practices but even the more traditional vets have decided to stop fighting it as well.
