Snow Bengal Cats Guide

With Bengal cat’s popularity being on the rise and coming in a vast array of different patterns and colors, it can leave you feeling confused and not really knowing what it all means.  Now factor in that there are also different breeds that have different names, and you have the perfect storm for confusion. For example, do you know what a snow Bengal cat is?

Snow Bengal Cats

Like all of the other Bengal cats that you will come across, snot Bengal cats are simply a result of breeding an Asian Leopard Cat and a domestic cat together.  While most of the Bengal cats originally started out as a combination of tan, orange, and brown, some of the kittens were born with a rare, recessive albino gene that makes them have a very light-colored base coat, as well as blue eyes.

As Bengal cats started to grow in their popularity, these breeders would start to prize their lighter colored coat, intentionally breeding for those specific colors, as they would make more money off of them.  These lighter colored snow Bengals would actually become so popular and sought after by breeders, that one of them would eventually introduce Burmese cats into their lines in order to help bring out these recessive genes, which would result in many more of them having the coloring that they have.

Similar to other types of Bengal cats, snow Bengals are also known for being loyal, vocal, very playful cats that make for some of the absolute best pets.  This specific coloring is also one of the few accepted colors for coats that has been allowed for Bengals in order to be in shows. The other colors include just silver and brown.

Snow Bengals can potentially be one of three colors, but the colors can be extremely difficult to tell apart.  The absolute best way that you will be able to differentiate between these three colors, is going to be by doing some type of genetic test, which will let you know the exact genes that are in the cat.  Once you know what your cat’s genes are, you will be able to find out what the exact coloring really is.
